Introduction
ChirpBot AAC is an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) application designed to help children and individuals with speech difficulties communicate effectively. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our users, especially children, and being transparent about our data practices.

Information We Collect
1. Local Data (All Users - Stored on Your Device Only)
- Communication preferences
- Custom vocabulary and word boards you create
- 4-digit PIN (stored locally)
- Usage patterns (for local suggestions only)
- App theme and display preferences
✗ This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable cloud features.
2. Server-Stored Data (Required for Account Registration)
- Account ID: Unique identifier automatically generated when you register (visible in Settings → Account)
- Email Address: Required to register and use the app, used for PIN recovery and account notifications
- 4-Digit PIN: Stored as an encrypted hash for app security
- Last Activity Date: We track when you last used the app (not what you did) for account management and identifying inactive accounts. Similar to "Last login" timestamps used by email and banking services.
- Account Notifications: We may use your email to notify you about account status, including trial expiration, subscription changes, and recovery options
- Storage: Stored securely on our servers (chirpbot.ai) with encryption (HTTPS, encrypted database storage)
- Never used for marketing without explicit consent
- Never shared with third parties
- Can be updated or deleted anytime at chirpbot.ai/data-deletion.html
Note: Email and Account ID are required to use ChirpBot. These are stored in our secure database to verify your account and enable PIN recovery features. Last activity date helps us manage accounts and clean up abandoned accounts.
4. Cloud Data (Pro and Premium Only)
- All words you have selected in your current sentence
- Sent only when you're actively building a sentence and want suggestions
- Not stored permanently - used only to generate suggestions
- No personal identification
- No full conversation history
- No audio or voice data
5. Payment Information
- All subscriptions processed through Google Play Store
- We only know if your subscription is active (yes/no)
- We do not collect or have access to payment details
- Payment information stored by Google, not by us

How We Use Your Information
Core App Data: Stored only on your device to provide app functionality.
Email: Send PIN recovery codes and account notifications only (if you request it).
AI Context Words: Generate better phrase suggestions in real-time (Pro/Premium).

These services process data only as necessary to provide features you've requested and do not use your data for their own purposes.
Data Security
How we protect your data:
- All data transmitted to our servers uses HTTPS encryption
- Email addresses and PINs stored with encryption
- Account data stored on secure servers with access controls
- Regular security updates and monitoring
Device Security: Your local app data (vocabulary, settings, PIN) security depends on your device's security. Please use device lock screens and keep your device updated.
Your Rights and Choices
Delete Your Data
To delete your account data:
Visit: chirpbot.ai/data-deletion.html
You'll need your Account ID (found in Settings → Account → Account ID)
Our automated system will immediately and permanently delete:
• Account data (email, PIN, device registration)
• All server data associated with your account
Deletion is instant and permanent. You'll receive email confirmation if you provided an email address.
Delete Local Data
Uninstalling the app removes all local data (vocabulary, settings, PIN) from your device. You can also clear app data through your Android device settings (Settings → Apps → ChirpBot → Storage → Clear Data).
Update Email
Go to Settings → Account → Update Email in the app to change your email address.
Manage Subscriptions
All subscriptions are managed through Google Play Store. Cancel or modify anytime through your Google Play account.
Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
ChirpBot AAC is designed for users of all ages, including children under 13.
Our Commitment:
- Minimal data collection
- Parental email required for children under 13 (PIN recovery only)
- Full parental control over all settings
- No advertising
- No tracking for behavioral advertising
- Anonymous AI requests (Pro/Premium)
- No social features or chat
For children under 13:

Parental Rights and Control
- Update or change email anytime in app Settings

- Uninstalling the app deletes all locally stored data
Data Retention
Local App Data: Stored on device until you delete it or uninstall the app
Email & Account Data: Retained while you have an active subscription, then deleted after 90 days of inactivity
International Data Transfers
Our servers are located in the United States. If you're using ChirpBot from outside the US, your account data (email, account ID) will be transferred to and stored in the US. We protect all data transfers with encryption and industry-standard security practices.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this privacy policy occasionally. When we do:
- We'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top
- Significant changes will be announced in-app
- Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy
